Toukiden Extreme Demo : Impressions

This is my impressions for the new Toukiden sequel demo version, called as Toukiden 極‬  (read: Kiwami or Extreme).

  • Everything in customization characters looks the same like previous game, there's no additional make up for customization characters in this new Toukiden sequel.
  •  I already tried all 3 new weapons (Kanabo, Naginata & Rifle), but the weapon that I love the most is Rifle (yeah, I'm into range weapon since the prequel game). I like the mechanism of rifle because we can bring 3 types of bullets like short range-have heavy damage bullet, medium range-penetrating damage bullet and long range-small damage bullet. More tactical than bow and arrow if you use three of them depends on where and when you will use it. Also it has charge bullet that has a greater effect than normal bullet .

This is the control button for Rifle:

L : Lock the Oni body part
R : Release the weapon/ also put down the weapon while running
Square : Normal bullet (consume little bit MP)
Triangle : Reload bullet & choosing bullet (by hit square or circle to choose the bullet and hit triangle to choose the bullet). Normal reload bullet take a few time but it doesn't consume MP, you can quickly reload the bullet by repeatedly hit Triangle button but it will consume more MP.

Circle : Soul bullet the effect depends on normal bullet that you choose, hit circle button and wait until it charge twice then hit the circle button again to release more damage.
Square + X : Grenade, you can wait until it explode or shoot it using your rifle .
Triangle + Circle : Ultimate movement, you can access it if the weapon icon gauge near your HP&MP bar full.

Toukiden Extreme also has a new gauge (some sites called this gauge as Destroyer Mode or whatever), this have a function as Ultimate movement with bigger damage. It works if you fill the gauge until full by hitting any parts of Oni body, once you fill the gauge you can press Triangle + Circle.

This whatever Destroyer Mode can be access only if you near the NPC or co-op friend in your parties. As for co-op (perhaps) you can choose who will launch this movement.
  • Naginata also become my first melee weapon that I like over some melee weapons in first Toukiden game. It has combination power similar to long sword & gauntlet in my personal opinion. I can said like that because compare to Spear, Naginata has sunder type damage that make the combo can be connected easily even if you're completely noobs for Toukiden also due to the medium range type weapon you can make some distance between your enemy Although you don't need to do that because it has guard feature (make sure that you can read every pattern for some Oni, because this guard feature has worthy a lot of your MP to repel any attack given from Oni).
  • The control are very similar with the Rifle above, but Naginata of course doesn't have any bullets refill stuff.
Square + X :  Guard, it consumes a lot of MP but it is worth to repel the attack from Oni.
Circle: Special attack (like Soul Bullet in Rifle), by mash up this button you can unleash a simple fast and deadly combo (like Gauntlet), it also consume MP slow but sure. You can also combine it with Triangle button to finish the combo before you run out the MP.

  • So, where's the Kanabo part? I haven't made it. I'm not saying that I hate Kanabo, but personally I'm not into heavy weapon. So I'm gonna write about Kanabo once I already bored with Rifle and Naginata (well don't expecting so much).
  • Perhaps due to the small size of the Demo file, There's also some limitation inside Toukiden Kiwami Demo version such as: we can't go out from Mononofu HQ/our house which is make us can't tried any features like Blacksmith shop and only one save data slot available.

Note: My PSP analog is broken, I'm having a hard time using Remote Joy and using my PC as a replacement button. Perhaps next month I will gonna fix my PSP or just buy new one (PSVITA).
